Using Stamps with Your Templates

Using Stamps with your Templates

gail_owensHere's a great idea from Gail at the Kiwi Lane Home Office! I don't know about you, but I have some newer stamps from Close to My Heart as well as some golden oldies that I bought from Stampin' Up years ago. This is giving me some great ideas and I guess maybe it's time to break them out and play with them a little! Do you rubber stamp? Have you ever used stamped images in your albums or cards? ~ Susan

Howdy! It’s Gail here today with a few tips for using stamps with your Kiwi Lane Designs templates.
I know you’ve seen all the cute cards, pages and projects over the years with stamped sentiments, titles, journaling spots or other images. But, have you ever wondered what the process would be to use your stamp stash with your templates? While we all have a little bit of our own spin to the process, I’m going to share a few tips and tricks to help you create your own stamped template shapes.
The first step (and the most time consuming) is matching a stamp and a template shape. This is where the translucent property of the templates comes in handy. You can place your template directly over the stamp to see if it’ll fit, like this: how to stamp
Once you have your template matched with a stamp, you can start Playing to Create using your Kiwi Lane templates. Here’s my framed card: framing a card
To get a perfectly centered stamped image, first stamp the image on your paper. Make sure you leave enough space around the image to accommodate the template you want to use. Once your stamped image is dry, place the template over the image (again- the awesome translucent property at work!) and trace like so: stamping
Next, cut out your shape: thank you
And now you’ll continue building your card as you normally would- tracing, cutting, inking and adhering- until you have your finished card: thank you card
Here are a couple more cards that I made using the same process: cupcake card
happy birthday to you card
And a quick note- the stamped tickets on the cupcake card are removable coupons for hugs- how cute!!
I hope this little tutorial helped! Now you can work some stamping into your projects when you use your Kiwi Lane templates and the Play to Create System!!

Have you scrapped your own graduation yet?

I was able to spend an overnight scrapbooking with some great ladies this weekend! I wanted to share this layout I created using all sorts of goodies. First, these are my husband Steve's 1979 graduation photos, complete with the invitation to the ceremony and his final high school report card. He couldn't believe that I actually still had them! I think adding those bits of memorabilia really made those memories even more special.
I also added very simple embellishments. A background of orange, and a little bit of brown, our school colors, with a single Happy Trails Fun Border Happy Trails and a Tiny Bracket Tiny Brackets made with Kiwi Lane Templates. I also found a graduation hat die cut - an "antique" I had from many years ago from Creative Memories, was all I needed to create a fun layout. Steve loved seeing this and other layouts I made from our dating days and it was so much fun to reminisce about those memories. I graduated a year later so I'll have to share those with you too.  Have you scrapbooked your own high school graduation yet?
